Why are we falling as we get old?

Seems like we’re falling more and more as we age and get old.

As I’ve commented in my other answers, you must read Scott McCredie, Balance: The Search for the Lost Sense. Nowhere is the entire issue better laid out, the factors that are contributing to our recurring falls, the connections between falling and aging, the issues as we age, the risks for the elderly and all senior citizens, and most importantly, what we can do about it. And it begins with awareness of the issue and the putting in place of real strategies for fall prevention. This is about balance exercises but it’s also about balance-boosting shoes, balance aids and standing aids.
