How do I convince aging mom to exercise?

My aging mom’s put on some belly weight, doesn’t have a healthy diet, and refuses to exercise. How do I convince her to exercise? I’m worried about her because she’s 74 and I feel exercise would benefit her health overall.

Have you tried openly asking her why she doesn’t want to exercise? Maybe exercise hurts her knees or back. Does she have any condition that limits her mobility? Maybe she feels exercise is boring or time consuming. Or maybe she’s depressed. Try taking her to a doctor for a checkup. I feel that once you find the root of the problem, you’ll be able to come up with options and solutions.
