Father in law needs a standing aid, maybe a couch cane?

My father in law is gonna be 81 soon and getting out of chairs (especially the couch)  has been hard the last few weeks. A standing aid, like a couch cane, would be helpful because I think he’s having overall muscle weakness, or maybe even some arthritis. Has anyone had a similar situation?

I’ve had to deal with that problem. Those extremely soft and low sofas and chairs are almost impossible to get out of and more if you’re having muscle weakness. I would recommend you get him a couch cane for sure and also be  sure that he has his knees together as much as possible and that he leans forward before starting to rise. This will make a difference I can tell you from experience. If you go on Google and put in couch cane, you’ll see all the options available.

If you suspect he has arthritis, take him to the doctor. He might be in worse condition than what you think…. If his only problem is muscle weakness, then I would also go with a couch cane. It’s one of the best standing aids out there.
