What’s the difference between a bed assist and a bed cane?

I see all these different things that all look the same to me. Not sure if bed cane and bed assist are the same thing.

I know the feeling. When I was looking for something to help my 78 year old aunt get in and out of bed, I didn’t know what to look for. She’s had trouble with balance, but didn;t want anyone in her apartment helping her. I figured there had to be something reliable that didn’t imply interrupting her independence. She lives in an independent living community, so I asked around… bottom line, I ended up researching “bed assist rail” online. There are different names, including bed assist or bed cane or bed assit rail, different shapes and brands, but the functionality is basically the same. You can use them on any type of bed, they are easy to attach securely and they help the person feel secure.  I know Stander is a popular brand, but if you’re looking to purchase one, I’d go on Amazon and see all of them. The one I got has made a huge difference in my aunt’s mobility.
